In a unexpected collaboration that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Revealed

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The storyline features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret cult.

The questline centers on "peculiar trials and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Changes

The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Features

Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Addition

This release also introduces the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
