Diving into an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Turdy Character with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have found a variety of engaging creations from small studios. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure features a hero that is literally a piece of poop trying to navigate to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is simple: press a one button to leap. Throughout 150 levels, you'll face boss fights and unlock a store to purchase skins for your dung hero.

Time your jumps with caution, as a error requires restarting the level. Leap on bubbles to hurl your character higher, cross fragile surfaces, and activate switches to open hidden paths. Collect currency to purchase more difficult game content where the action intensifies.

Visually, the demo shows off eye-catching stages and a killer music score. The simple visual style with morphing geometric shapes may remind players of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's hard to recall previous releases where you control a dung character, video games often included fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as plant food. And of course, such content shows up a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly idea, Unko Technica has already received notable recognition, including taking top honors at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is ready now on Steam, with the full game planned to debut on Steam this November.
