It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was underway.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
